Pacquiao won by Technical Knock-out!

(December 07, 2008 12:00nn) a time that the world stood still for Filipinos around the world. And, indeed Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao unified again the politically divided country by winning another fight against “Golden Boy” Oscar Dela Hoya, retaining under his belt the “No. 1 Pound for pound Boxer” of our time.

Pacquiao’s blows that pinned Dela Hoya in the corner for several times, made the “Golden Boy’s” camp raised its white flagjust before the ninth round is about to start.

After knocking Diaz on the canvass on the 9th round of their last fight, and dela hoya raised white flag after 8 rounds, as of now, Manny Pacquiao’s Next Fight would probably be between the Englishman Ricky Hatton at 140 pounds, Edwin Valero or Humberto Soto at 130 pounds. Personally, I would like to see a Manny Pacquiao VS Ricky Hatton Fight because of two things: Each is backed by a whole nation and the two fighters are pure entertainers.

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT.....

Is it Ricky Hatton ?

Is it Edwin Valero?

or Humberto Soto?

Manny Pacquiao VS Oscar Dela Hoya

The Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya makes his return to the ring on Saturday December 6th to fight Manny Pacquiao. The 12 round bout will be in the 147-pound weight classification and it will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be televised on Pay-Per-View.Oscar De La Hoya has a professional record of 39 wins and 5 losses and has won World Titles in 6 different weight divisions. 30 of The Golden Boys 39 wins have come by knockout. But the 35-year-old De La Hoya has lost 3 of his past 6 fights. Oscar last fought at 147 pounds back on March of 2001 when he defeated Arturo Gatti by TKO in the 5th round. He has spent the last 7 years fighting in heavier weight divisions of 150lbs or greater. De La Hoya will have a 6-inch reach advantage over his opponent Manny Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao sports a professional record of 47 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws. Fighting at 147 lbs will be the heaviest for Pacquiao in the squared circle. Manny came in at 134 ½ lbs when he defeated David Diaz by knockout in June of this year. As De La Hoya was disposing of Arturo Gotti in March of 2001 weighing 147 pounds Pacquiao was in the ring 1 month later in April of 2001 weighing just 122 pounds in his native country the Phillipines. Pacquiao began his professional career in January of 1995 fighting at just 106 pounds in the light flyweight division.Oddsmakers have listed Oscar De La Hoya as the minus 240 favorite with Manny Pacquiao the underdog at plus 180. Many boxing pundits feel Oscar De La Hoya should be favored here because The Golden Boy has a strength advantage along with his 6-inch reach advantage.
